Victoria Beckham Special Edition Range Rover Evoque

I truly admire Victoria Beckham because she has created a fashion label that has more than just her celebrity name on it.  Season after season, she has presented a cohesive, beautiful vision of her line

Now Mrs. Beck's has teamed up with Range Rover to serve as guest creative director for a special edition of their latest model, Evoque.  She teamed up with filmmaker Nick Knight to create a video.  It's very futuristic and modern but at the same time sexy and intriguing.  I really enjoyed the clip, actually.

"I want everyone who gets into this car to feel special and empowered by its quality and craftsmanship. I like that it feels luxurious but also has quite a classic edge to it as well as a contemporary feel."  Clad in her own VB designs in the film, I would say this is a match made in heaven.

Zara Lookbook: April 2012

I think every woman needs to start shopping at Zara if they're not already.  The beauty about this fast-fashion retailer from Spain is that it's a one-stop shopping destination.  You can get a fabulous pair of heels to go with that blazer and skirt you picked up.  Need a handbag?  They have it!

For the Zara Woman lookbook, Liu Wen (a fast-rising star), models crisp all white looks and cool blazers with a simple denim skirt.

I have been shopping at Zara since I spent my first summer in Spain over 10 years ago.  Wow that's a long time!  And ever since they have done a better job at tapping into the zeitgeist and what's trending than there competitors.  They have new product in their stores every month.  That's what keeps me coming back, their fresh, new merchandise that is so of-the-moment.

I think the demographic for Zara is a bit older than Forever 21 and H&M because the silhouette is a bit more grown up.  But i like that, it's more my style.  So here's to the next 10 years of shopping at Zara, cheers!

Haute in the city...

I am from Omaha, Nebraska and that's not typically the place you think of when your looking for fashion forward movers and shakers.  But my friend Caroline Moore Hinrichs is trying to do just that.  Her production company, Step Group, is hosting Haute City,an interactive, pop-up shopping event at Midtown Crossing.  With 7 buildings and over 1 million square feet, it's Omaha's largest commercial mixed-use development.

There will be food, drink, and clothing from local vendors and the evening will wrap with a VIP rooftop party (very New York, no?).  This is a great way to bring a city, although small compared to New York, together in ways it normally would not.  There are so many wonderful, small, locally owned boutiques and they should be supported more.  So check it out!  http://hautecity.com/

Now I wish I lived in Omaha to attend :)

Louis Vuitton Fall 2012

the show was like revisiting the movie Hugo, no? well, for me it was and i was a-okay with that. aside from longing to relive the adventures inside the train station, i love the story Marc Jacobs created once again for the LV show. the clothes were so proper and lady like.

pass the mustard, please

when I started thinking about this blog entry (an important color trend), one color came to mind.  muted mustard yellow.

when it comes to color i like to mix color with color, and i'm not talking about [bright] color blocking or the monochromatic-hue-variation-outfit (which i do LOVE) or wearing black, white, gray, neutral with a contrasting color.  i believe that you can wear lots of "color" in your outfit.

to me nothing is better than that true blue levi's denim with whatever color you choose!

as you can see that mustard yellow comes back and i think it's definitely going to be more prevalent in street fashion as it trickles down from up above

i think in the big picture more and more consumers are going to play with color in a less "statement way"

Blog Entry #3

you know how you think you like certain things and then you are drawn to something that contradicts that?  well i thought i didn't like bell bottoms and then this happened...

i love these Free People pants!  it's such a unique take on the striped-printed-colored-jean trend... the fabric is a yarn dyed linen/cotton blend, and it has a very slubby, soft finish which i love for this retro inspired design

i love being surprised :)

The Lover's Buggin: Part II

Ya wanna know what I think is key for this spring/summer?!  High-waisted, A-line skirts!

Here's the thing about summer in NYC.  You sweat.  As soon as you stop walking, the beads start a'movin... You know what I mean.  So that's why I usually wear loose skirts and dresses in comfortable fabrics like cotton and linen.  Let that free flowing air circulate (that's for you bert!).

For spring you can warm them up with cute cropped sweaters and booties or since it's already 50 degrees out maybe you just head straight for your see-through lace tops :)

In any case, i think this shape is super flattering because a woman's silhouette is to be defined in your clothing not exposed.  Enjoy!

isn't see gorgeous?!

i am a sucker for red heads
